Detoxification is a natural process in our body that removes toxins and other dangerous compounds from it. Toxins are present everywhere around us: in the air, food, medications and water, and they are very harmful for our overall health. Even, the shampoos and soaps that we use are filled with chemicals, toothpaste contains fluoride, and the more toxins we are exposed to,the harder it’s for the body to eliminate them.
It’s a fact that we can’t make our toxins exposure equal to zero, but we can reduce the unnecessary exposure and also improve the body strength to eliminate toxins. One of the ways to boost our immune system is to practice detox-baths.
The most important organ for removing toxins and metabolic waste from the body is the liver. The liver converts the toxins into water-soluble compounds and then they are eliminated through urine. The ones that aren’t water-soluble are transformed by the liver and excreted in the bile. Another way for elimination is through sweating.
The detoxification baths that contain Epsom salt are good for drawing out toxins, reducing the stress, improving the concentration and sleep, preventing blood clotting, reducing inflammation, pain and muscle cramps, improving the absorption of nutrients, etc.
How to prepare it?
Mix 2 cups of Epsom salt with 5 to 10 drops of essential oil (of your choosing) and add it to a tub full of water. Add 1 cup of baking soda to you bath water, if it isn’t filtered. This is for neutralization of the chemicals, primarily chlorine.
Immerse yourself in the water and stay for 20 minutes. Then shower with cool water and don’t use harsh soaps or shampoos.
Dry your body; apply body butter and deodorant without aluminum. Don’t use perfumes; don’t eat, only drink filtered water before and after the bath.
